Perhaps the most frequently used and most well known
method for driving traffic to your website is Google
Adwords.
Google Adwords is the method of placing content related
ad's on other websites and on Google search results (usually
on the right of the screen). When you use Google's Adwords,
you only pay for the advertisements that are clicked on
(referred to as a click-through and Pay-per-click
advertising). Most online advertising works this way...much
different than television, radio, and print advertising.

Don't get confused:
Remember from
earlier in the tutorial, Google Adwords is not the
same as Google Adsense.

Signing up for a Google Adwords account is not
difficult.

Once you've signed up for an account, you need to
create 1 or more campaigns. Google walks you right
through it.
Although setting up an Adwords account is easy,
tweaking the accounts many campaigns to drive profitable
traffic may be more difficult. Google offers many
suggestions on how this can be done. A couple ideas they
provide include: (1)optimize your website and (2)
include in your campaigns only search terms that
actually relate to your website content
The biggest recommendation have when building your
campaign ads is to be creative but make sure your ad is
accurate to the content in which you are advertising. (ie
don't advertise for a weight loss program, but really
have your site about how to quit smoking). Just like
poorly written landing pages, poorly written ad's will
end up costing you more than what you would earn.
the Rich Jerk provides excellent examples of stellar
designed Adwords campaigns. His e-book is easy to follow
when it comes to the finer points of creating stellar
and catchy ad
copies using Adwords. He also goes in-depth on how you
can use Adsense to pull a wealth of money into your
pocket with very little work.
Constant contact with interested people is essential
to continuing a profitable customer base. In the
previous section we talked about newsletters and how
they can be used to promote your website as well as
affiliate's sites of which you get commissions...

In addition to newsletters, you can also blast your
subscriber base with simple emails that tell them about
a simple idea or product that you just discovered. These
emails can be text or HTML based emails that keep people
interested and coming back for more.
Be careful to not overwhelm your subscriber base.
Make sure the content of your emails are in line with
the subscriber's interests. AND DO NOT SPAM people. Make
sure there is a way for people to easily and reliably
remove their email address from you mailing list.
Using online social networking will enable you to
advertise new products, information, news, ideas,
and discoveries that you run across on a daily
basis. You can create and join groups that share you
desires and hobbies. If you create a group, as an
administrator you can 'blast' messages to all
subscribers. Hopefully, you can see the
possibilities with doing this.
If you're not already a member of these sites, we
strongly encourage you to become one and discover
another stream of steady income. It doesn't take long to
post an update message that tells others what you're
doing or just discovered.
The best thing about social networking is that it
is ABSOLUTELY FREE!
